  1. HELP FILE FOR !QUOTEDATA - QUOTEABILITY DATA FILE CREATOR.

  6. Overview:
  7.  
  8. This program is intended to complement QuoteAbility - the PD game of quotes, which should be on this disc. The program is written is BASIC V, and is self-explanatory. Please note:

  10. 1) The !Quote application should have been "shown" to the filer before running !QuoteData
  11. 2) Creating the data file wipes the previous one, whereas updating it adds questions on to the end.
  12. 3) It does not matter if there are several sets of any one type of question.
  13. 4) Do not try to break out once you have selected create/update, as the data file might not work.
  14. 5) NEVER USE COMMAS IN ANY INPUT. The computer will think that is the end of the string when it prints to the file, and you will only get half a quote, which is very difficult to answer!
  15. 6) In the program, there is no allowance for text that exceeds a line. Therefore, you must add spaces as necessary.

  19. This program is PUBLIC DOMAIN, and as such may be freely distributed, as long as:

  21. 1) The !Quote application is distributed with it.
  22. 2) No changes are made to any file.
  23. 3) No charge is made for it.

  25. If you want to include chunks of the programing in your own ventures (can't imagine why!) feel free to do so, as long as I am fully credited and it is not sold comercially.

  27. PLEASE NOTE: I strongly suggest that you make a back-up copy of the data file (it's in the !Quote application) before you start altering it - just in caseyou make a mess!
